Interview: Javier Martí

The conception of Activa Recruitment´s site

-Does Activa Recruitment really exists?
-It only exists in my imagination. If there is any company with that name, i did not know it when i started. I chose the name because it seemed appropiate for the type of business Activa is in.

-Why did you create Activa?

-It was a kind of exercise. While i was doing my Web Design course in Spain i used to stay a couple of hours after my class time to push a bit this project. The main idea was to get familiar with the software we were using in the course and apply the things i was learning every day.

-What where the objectives of the site?

-I thought of Activa to be a fast downloading site, with only the bare essential graphic content and a lot of information. Of course, the real site would be a lot bigger that this, but i wanted to concentrate on the tools and the design rather than on the information. I I also wanted the user to have on every page each navigational tool to move through all the site rapidly.

-What tools did you use?

-I worked mainly with Dreamweaver 3 and Photoshop 5.0; what i had learnt at that time. There is also a substitution image somewhere -DW behaviours- and the drop down menu at the main page, that was made with Javascript. I also practiced a lot with the cut & paste function!

-How long did it take to build it?

-Two hours each day scattered along two weeks: about 10 hours plus a few more for testing...

-Did you create the logos and images?

-I took the images from the web and worked them out with Photoshop. The Activa logo and buttons were also made that way.

What about the banners?

-I made one of them -at the bottom of the page- in one of those "free banners"sites. I would have liked another color, but...the rest were borrowed from different places.
